DHIS 1.3
The District Health Information Software (DHIS) version 1.3.0.x (the Version & BUILD as per 24 July 2005 is 1.3.0.84) is currently used in South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, India, China, and Uganda to a larger or lesser degree. The "population footprint" (population covered by existing routine data) is tentatively between 70 and 100 million people.
It's core modules are based on MS Office (Access 97/2000/XP/2003 and Excel Pivot tables):
- Monthly Data (MD) Module: Designed to capture, validate, and process routine monthly/quarterly data, semi-permanent data, and survey/audit data - usually aggregated to health facility level.
- Report Generator (RG) Module: Access-based Report Designer with a simple GIS interface that allows the creation of health thematic maps for display in the free GIS desktop viewer ArcExplorer
- Client Satisfaction Survey (CSS) Module: Access-based module for capturing and analysing Client Satisfaction Survey data (i.e. exit interviews with patients).
Version 1.3 also covers a range of smaller stand-alone tools, most of them developed in VB (Pivot Table Generator, Anti-pivoting Tool, etc).
Export/import from/to DHIS 1.3.x is via comma-delimited TEXT files, either in ASCII (8-bits character set) or Unicode (16-bits character set) format.
Other and mostly newer DHIS modules, like the Web Pivot Reporter, Web Portal, Human Resource Development module, etc are described separately.
