Mailing lists

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE? - Follow the links to the specific list pages in the table below and subscribe from there.

HISP provides several mailing lists designed to keep you informed and to help you. You can subscribe to any or all of the lists that suit your needs. Note that two of the mailing lists are required for developers.

If you have problems unsubscribing from the lists send an e-mail to Knut (knutst AT ifi.uio.no).

Note that the Reply-To header is set to the list you get the mail from. So if you get a mail from the dev list, a reply to that mail will automatically be sent to the dev list, not to the author of the mail, unless explicitly changed.

Mailing list rules (important!)

  • Always write in English.
  • Always use plain text, not HTML.
  • Always respond below the text you're replying to, never above it (Q, A, Q, A, not A, Q, A, Q).
  • If it is a discussion, you should always quote that part of the mail you are responding too (keeping as many older quotes to make that part of the discussion relatively legible while reading e-mail, typically two or three levels). The rest should be deleted for brevity. If you only respond to the first paragraph, delete all the paragraphs below it.
  • Create new mail threads for new subjects. Do not reply to an existing thread if your post is not related to the subject of the thread.
  • When replying to mails on the scm list, send the reply to the relevant discussion list instead of the scm list.
  • Do not include large attachments. Instead put the content on some web server and send the URL.
  • Avoid acronyms like pls, plz, thx, thnx, omg, lol and other ''SMS''/l337 type of language.
  • Avoid upper case or several exclamation marks to state your point.
